Ease of Use:  

Spotmau PowerSuite is simple to use, especially considering some of the otherwise complex functions the software is suited for. The interface is well organized, utilizing tabs and simple icons. Navigating through the program and utilizing the various utilities is straightforward and fairly intuitive.

Spotmau PowerSuite is actually a combination of several utilities (Windows Optimization, Windows Recovery, Data backup and rescue, password genius, etc), but the utilities come together effectively as a whole package and never feel like individual software thrown together. The suite is comprehensive and comprehendible.

The program actually contains two powerful components, WinCare and BootCare. WinCare is comprised of all the utilities and tools to optimize your computer and take advantage of a variety of other system tools. Bootcare is used if/when your system crashes. The Bootcare program is simple to use; simply restart the computer with the CD loaded, and Bootcare will help you through the process of recovering deleted, formatted, or otherwise corrupt data, and repairing problems where possible.

Ease of Setup:  

Spotmau PowerSuite was fairly easy for us to install and setup. We were able to quickly download a copy online and setup the program in entirety on our test computer in no time. Installation and setup are completely straightforward, and Spotmau provides step-by-step instructions to help walk you through the process.

If you purchase the product online, you’ll want to be sure and burn your own disc so you can utilize Bootcare should the need arise. Creating the disc is far from complicated, and Spotmau provides explicit instructions.

Not only are the tools and utilities in the suite designed to help you speed up a slow computer, the tools themselves actually work remarkably fast. Most of the scans we performed were completed in a matter of seconds, and were able to find a surprising amount of clutter on our system.

Maintenance/Diagnostics:  

Smotmau PowerSuite has all the right tools to help you restore your computer to optimum performance, and keep it running that way. The suite includes the ability to help optimize your registry, hard drive, and even your copy of Windows. Furthermore, Spotmau PowerSuite can remove useless clutter, speedup your startup time, and make the most of your network speed.

Spotmau PowerSuite also helps you maintain your hard drive. With the suite you can partition and format your hard drive as well as clone and backup the entire system.

The suite is missing a few additional diagnostic features and analysis tools found in some of our other PC utilities suites, but certainly has all the essential tools to help you diagnose your computer and effectively improve performance.

Repair/Recovery:  

In the event of a disaster, Spotmau PowerSuite can be lifesaver for helping you recover important files that would be otherwise lost. With the software you will be able to recover files that were accidentally deleted or formatted on your computer, USB drives, or storage cards. You can even recover some files that were emptied from the recycle bin (or Ctrl + Shift deleted).

The Bootcare recovery system is specifically designed to help you boot up any crashed computer (or laptop) and rescue crashed data. The Windows Recovery tool can repair errors and missing file problems. Spotmau guarantees that they can boot any Windows, and help you rescue your data with 1-click solutions for system, registry, Disk Partition Table, and Master Boot Record recovery.

Another unique recovery tool from Spotmau is the password finder. With this utility you can find forgotten passwords for a number of programs, not to mention the always hard to locate Microsoft Windows or Office product keys.

Optimization:  

We’ve already mentioned some of the great optimization tools included in Spotmau PowerSuite. The software is designed to optimize your PC registry, hard disks, and the overall Windows performance. You can also significantly improve your Windows startup time and network speed (though we would have liked to see support for additional browsers aside from Internet Explorer).

Spotmau PowerSuite also includes the tools to help you effectively remove pop-ups and toolbars, and completely uninstall unused programs. With this software you can also manage which programs run automatically on startup, and even customize your desktop right-click menu.

Feature Set:  

Spotmau’s PowerSuite includes all the essential features and functions for complete disaster recovery and maintenance. But the software also includes some additional features to further customize and optimize your Windows experience.

One of these unique features is the Spotmau Secretary. With this set of tools you can record memos on your computer, utilize a one-click Bosskey (to hide active windows), and an automatic desktop background changer.

Spotmau PowerSuite also includes the ability to encrypt and decrypt sensitive files. You can also permanently delete files or wipe your entire hard disk if you need to. To keep confidential data secure (but still intact), you can create a personal safe. This personal space on your hard disk is password protected and can be hidden from other users. Another privacy feature is the ability to lock specific programs that you don’t want others to use.
 

Help/Support:  

Additional help and assistance with PowerSuite is available, and quite useful. Spotmau has 24/7 support with one year of free product support. They provide assistance through email or over the phone. The in-program help and documentation is pretty thorough and can be a useful resource (though it could use some English editing). Overall, the help and support service from Spotmau is like the physical PowerSuite product; above average.

Combining all the right tools in an easy to use interface, Spotmau PowerSuite is an excellent PC system utilities solution. The suite truly is an all-in-one package, including privacy, data backup and recovery, optimization, maintenance, and emergency recovery. Spotmau has done a great job of creating a worthwhile software suite complete with innovative technology, some exclusive features, and the ability to utilize the software on 3 computers. For convenience, customization, and confidence, Spotmau PowerSuite is a great way to go.
