Super Utilities from SuperLogix is a basic utilities program that is too short on help support and features to keep up with competing programs. We suggest you compare it to some of our higher ranked PC system utilities software.
Super Utilities is easy to use and navigate. The program is divided into four categories-System Cleaner, System Protector, System Maintenance and Special Tools; each category is listed on the left side-bar for easy access.
We experienced no complications while installing Super Utilities
Super Utilities offers several excellent maintenance and diagnostic tools including an Add and Remove Uninstaller, a Process Manager and the ability to hide programs, allowing you to make some programs invisible to outsiders.
The Disk Cleaning tool quickly cleans specific areas of your system, like: Internet cache files, temporary files, junk and obsolete files, URLs, Internet history and cookies.
Super Utilities comes with its own version of Windows system information, which reports general information about your computer and operating system. Although Super Utilities does a better job than Windows at displaying this information, higher-ranked software programs do better still.
Super Utilities comes with a customizable Registry Cleaner. After a scan, the software displays errors found in the registry; you can click on a specific error for a generic explanation, but double-clicking will not take you to that error in the registry, as is common among registry cleaners.
Another helpful tool is Driver Backup, which can backup your Windows system driver files with two simple mouse clicks. This tool makes all your Windows driver files available the next time you need to reinstall a driver or your entire operating system.
Super Utilities has few optimization tools. The Memory Optimizer is easy to use and helps free up memory, which allows your applications to run faster.
We were disappointed that Super Utilities offers no defragging tools.
Additional features that come with Super Utilities include: a spyware detector, an ExeLock, which allows you to password protect your Windows executable programs (keeping important information accessed through those programs safe from outsiders), and a hide function, which requires rebooting before any changes can have affect.
There is also a Privacy Protector, which can erase system and network tracks (information about what your system and networks have been doing) and application tracks (including cookies, cache files and URLs).
SuperLogix provides help and support for Super Utilities, but it's limited. There's a built-in, context-based help section (so the help offered varies depending on the part of the program you're using when you click the help button). The online FAQs page is poorly designed, and SuperLogix doesn't offer email or phone support.
Although Super Utilities is easy to use and offers several helpful utilities, its lack of optimization capabilities and minimal support contribute to its unflattering ranking.
